• Study the tracks first before joining a race. All tracks may look the same, but a good racer should be able to recognize the danger of how his car will approach a certain obstacle.
• Check your batteries. Make sure it is fully charged or it will cost you a race.
• Check your speed. Be sure to run the appropriate speed on different track settings.
• Grease your gears in preparation for a race. It makes them move smoothly.
• Know your opponent. Knowing what motor they use and how they set their brakes is an advantage.
• Secure your rubber brakes with double adhesive tape to prevent them from becoming loose during a race.
• Check the width of your tires before joining a race. It's better to replace them if it goes below 22mm than to face disqualification.
• Do not use tires with uneven width.
• Try to cut some of front screw mounts diagonally to create a down thrust.
• Check if your wheels are moving freely. Remove your motor and batteries then try to spin the wheels.
• Check your calibration pad. A deformed calibration pad can lead to disaster.
• Discharge batteries before charging it again. Be it NiCd or NiMh, it boosts your batteries' performance. It is a common theory that only NiCd suffers from "memory effect", but the truth is, NiMh is also affected by "memory effect".
• Make sure to carry replacement gears when joining a race. You may need to change gears to attain a certain speed.
• Newly purchased batteries and used (old) batteries differs in performance. Every heat, old batteries drain faster than new batteries.
• Put label or number on battery and designate battery for each car.
• Apply more energy (like rubbing) for old batteries than new ones.
• Do not cheat. Winning isn't everything.
